Peppermint is one of the most versatile and popular of all essential oils and can be used for a number of health concerns. From sore muscles to low energy and digestive issues; peppermint has strong antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiviral properties.
Peppermint essential oil is an excellent alternative to help treat pain, inflammation, headaches, and relax muscles because of its cooling, invigorating and antispasmodic properties. To use for pain relief, simply mix two to three drops with a teaspoon of carrier oil (e.g., fractionated coconut oil, lotion, almond oil, jojoba oil) and apply to the affected area or add to a warm bath with Epsom salt.
Used for centuries to sooth indigestion, bloating and nausea; peppermint is a natural alternative to over-the-counter treatments for these ailments. Mix two to three drops of peppermint oil with one teaspoon of a carrier oil and massage on your stomach.
Peppermint is also known as one of the best essential oils to treat colds, allergies, sinuses and other respiratory conditions and will help to ease breathing and coughs. Simply add two to three drops to a cup of steaming water and inhale or add three to five drops to an essential oil diffuser.
Need to boost your energy or mental clarity but want to do it naturally? Try rubbing peppermint to your temples and the back of your neck. Simply inhaling the scent of peppermint oil can also wake the senses, relieve stress and improve concentration and alertness.
